Drywall is Hung

Sunday we insulated the walls and completed one of the walls of drywall.  Then we called it quits for the day.  Gotta have a little recovery time before the 9-5 work week begins again (does anyone really work 9-5 anymore?  I know I don't....)

Wednesday night we finished the other drywall.  This weekend, we'll be ready for taping and puttying.

Sorry, no photos this time.  Having issues uploading.

Fire In The Hole

Fire In The Hole has been a common phrase around our house the last two days.  Any time the nail gun was shot, it needed to be said, otherwise you may find yourself covered in plaster from above.

We have not moved as quickly as hoped, but we got some quality work complete.  We repaired areas of the floor.  We built the faux wall so we can insulate and hang drywall.  We installed new electrical with 4 additional outlets.  You can never have too many outlets in an old house.

Next Project: Living Room

Greg and I took the day off from our day job to work on our after hours job:  our home.  Now that the HVAC is complete, next up is the living room.  We are insulating the exterior walls, installing some new electrical, repairing plaster, and painting walls and trim.

Today we started by emptying out the living room.  Next we removed the trim around the windows, floor and ceiling.  We ended by running wire into the bedrooms upstairs (future projects) while we have easy access.

Tomorrow plan to finish the wiring, build our stud walls and sand the textured wall.  Another busy day ahead.

It's Official - AC Works!

It's true.  Mid April and we already turned on the central air.  The upstairs was a bit stuffy last night and since the weather people were calling for more storms, we didn't want to leave the windows open.  We switched on the AC and within in 20 minutes, the temp dropped 4 degrees.  A fabulous night's sleep.  Today the temps have returned to the 60s and the windows are once again open.  I don't want to start running the central air 24 hours a day yet...but happy to know it works.

Little Spring Projects

Just a few small jobs going on around the Jones House.

Shelving that was built over the radiators

Shadows of the shelving, or dirty walls.  Shadows sound more romantic.

Patch job where the radiator hung on the wall by the garage door.

Painting the kitchen wall where the radiator was once located.
