Gotta love using free paint, again

A few weeks ago, I wrote that we were painting the metal arch over the front door. The orange appeared a bit bright at times, making us question if it was the right color of orange. I felt that the half circles over the windows were too white, probably affecting the orange color. Nothing else on the house is white: brown brick, orange mortar, limestone details.

That being said, we picked out some paint that was closer to the color of the limestone details. I climbed up on the ladder and brushed some on. Oh no. The color we picked was the exact same color that was already there! The daylight lightened the color that much. I went to the basement and pulled out the free paint that we used for our hallway project last year. It is the exact color that we were looking for! Wish we wouldn't have bought a new gallon of paint. I'll have to find another use for it. Anyway, the half circles are now painted. The next pictures are a before and after.
From a distance you may not notice that much of a difference. But it certainly compliments the orange arch. If you look in the center of the arch, there is a small shield. It is was the old color was...gives you a sense of before and now. Next project, strip the shield of it's peeling paint.
