SSiW - Part 7 - Boiler (not as in Boilermaker) and Breaker Box

The big old boiler has been removed.  Not sure how many men and how much sweat it took to get it up the basement stairs, but apparently there were enough of both.  The new furnace has been set in place and connections have begun.

A bigger and better breaker box was also installed.  We had to get a bigger one in order to support the new AC and furnace.

Since the boiler was removed, we don't have any heat downstairs. Luckily the weather has begun to get warmer, as evidenced by my tulips that are springing up (can't wait for them to bloom).  Since we have the furnace upstairs installed and working (quite well I must add), we turned up that heat in hopes that it would warm up the downstairs - even though we know that heat rises.  It's still true...it didn't warm up the downstairs and caused us to wake up in a warm sweat.  Never thought I'd be sweating at 71 degrees, but when we are used to a 63 degree bedroom, you begin to get used to it.  We were concerned that our downstairs temp would drop significantly overnight but it only dropped 2 degrees. Good thing we installed those new windows last summer.  Seems our renovation plan is coming together.

Tonight, the thermostat will be set a bit cooler so we get a good nights sleep.  I have to be awake and alert for all of those basketball games tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a great St Patty's Day.  I'll be enjoying mine at a bar with some good friends and basketball.
